Head of Education, Teacher
The goal of teaching should be to excite students about learning and to help them to use education to make their dreams a reality. At Wayne Geri Academy, we foster critical and creative thinking in our students and encourage them to be inquisitive, intelligent, and productive members of their communities. Building this school has been one of the smartest decisions of my life. How many people have the privilege of waking up every morning to go do a job they love? After five years of teaching at a variety of other schools, it is absolutely fabulous to teach at a school where I know that the students' learning is the priority and there is no bureaucracy or standardized testing to hold that back.
Robert Kohler
Founder, Teacher
I believe that learning requires interest, apparent application and challenge. Too often school lacks all three of these aspects. After teaching in the private sector for five years and working in the public sector for two, I have seen again and again that successful students are those that are interested in learning. I can't make every kid interested in quantum physics, though if any are interested I would be happy to teach it. At WGA though, I have the freedom to find the subjects a student is interested in and then mold instruction to those interests, thereby creating a scenario for success both at this level and the next.
